The Floating Support Service is a scheme providing support to individuals in their own home who have a diagnosed mental illness or associated mental health issues. The service is aimed at enabling individuals to maintain their tenancies with the NI Housing Executive, Housing Association or Private Landlord.

Floating Support

The support provided is flexible and based on the individual’s needs and includes support of a practical nature. The aim of the service is to foster independence and self-management by working alongside the individual. Referrals come from the Housing Executive, Mental Health Professionals, other Floating Support schemes and Home Managers as part of a moving on strategy for their residents. Support is available for a period of 12 months with a regular review process. Floating support is currently available in the Southern Eastern Trust area. Feedback from clients and referral agents has been both positive and encouraging and the expansion of the service is regarded as an important addition to the mental health services currently available.
