Dungannon - Beechview
Beechview Beacon Day Support in Dungannon has been open since 1989; Our aim is to help people with mental health needs achieve independent living in the community so reducing admissions and length of stay in psychiatric hospitals. Staff and volunteers work closely with members who are actively involved in all areas of centre life. Members share responsibility for activity planning in and out of centre, meal preparation, clerical/admin tasks, centre maintenance and self help all essential to aid independant living.
The membership concept is fundamental to the success of the centre creating a sense of belonging and helping build members self esteem, confidence and skills which enhance each individuals quality of life. Opportunities are explored outside of centre so that members gain maximum benefit from community, educational and recreational courses and the varied programme of care and support on offer allow members the freedom of choice to strive towards their full potential.
A partnership with the local youth service is being developed which will provide the young persons service with a personal development group which is based on outdoor pursuits, team building and personal development.
