Belfast - Aspen
Aspen is a community based resource which offers an exciting and dynamic service to clients with mental health needs. We aim to help individuals work on their areas of need through a wide range of therapeutic activities and groups. These are facilitated in Aspen and also at various community locations. By taking the service into the community we are promoting a holistic approach to both physical and emotional health.

Activities
Aspen is a dynamic service offering a wide range of therapeutic activites which take a holistic approach to supporting the needs of members such as
- Anxiety management
- Coping with life groups
- Relaxation therapy and a range of complementary therapies such as Aromatherpy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage
- Healthy living opportunities through Cook it, Gymbusters and walk leader programmes.
- Vocational training and Job Skills are supported in conjunction with Belfast Metropolitain College.
Aspen offers opportunites to develop hobbies and interests in areas such as sports, Creative writing, Art, Sign Language Skills to name but a few.
Close Community liason provides the opportunity to access additional finanancial and advice services as well as the opportunity to participate in local Community Centre programmes.
Aspen is a supportive and sociable centre which gives indivivduals the chance to mix and meet others in a comfortable setting and also provides opportunity to develop and enhance personal skills through a range of mediums.
New/creative/interesting activities
Aspen works with other community groups and received funding through the Open Arts programme to develop an Art of Mind Project, involving Pottery, Animation and puppet Animation.
Aspen is also involved inthe Belfast Community Creative Arts Project which encompasses Gamelon Dance and Music training.
In responding to need Aspen also offers a service for Older people based at the Morton Community Centre. A dedicated Carers Support group for Carers of those who Self Harm is also provided at Aspen.
